Dear Families, Welcome to another school year at Harris-Jackson CLC! We are looking forward to another fabulous year! I am looking forward to working with you and your family. We are busy working throughout the building to prepare for all of you. We would like to introduce new staff members joining the Harris-Jackson CLC family:

Open House is  Monday, August 26th from 4:00-6:00 for all students.

• Final Homeroom assignments will be available during Open House. They will also be posted on the front door of the building on Wednesday, August 21st.

First Day of School is Thursday, August 29th for students in Grades 1-5. The first day for students in Kindergarten is Tuesday, September 3rd.

• Our school day is from 8:30 – 2:30.

• The morning announcements will begin at 8:25.  Children are late if they arrive after the tardy bell at 8:30.  Children are considered “on time” if they are in their classroom before the 8:30 bell rings. ** Please set a family goal that your child will have excellent attendance this year.

• Breakfast and lunch are available to all students at no cost. Breakfast is served from 8:00-8:20am. 

Please be  patient as new families understand the routines and procedures of arrival and dismissal. It is important that cars dropping off and picking up students are not blocking the path of busses, moving cars and community driveways. Please watch the staff members and security personnel that are directing cars to keep the flow of traffic moving. 

Over the summer, you were mailed an APS school packet.  This envelope contains very important information. Your child’s emergency card was part of that packet.  Please return the updated emergency card to school on the first day.  If any of the information changes on the emergency card throughout the school year, please call the office and alert the school to those changes. It is crucial that we have a quick and easy way to contact you in the case of an emergency.

Communication  

We invite you to call or email your child’s teacher with any possible questions or concerns.  We believe in open, two-way communication.
