Invaluable Lessons from Safety Town

The partnership between Akron Public Schools and the Akron Fire Department brought Safety Town to our kindergartners at Harris-Jackson again this year. Each kindergartner in our six classrooms participated in a full day of programming where they attended several sessions. Each session focused on a different topic related to safety. The session topics included: Bike, Electrical, Health/Poison, Pedestrian, K-9, Stranger Danger, Bus and Fire Smoke Safety, along with 911 and Burn Center sessions. Sessions included a short video or presentation that was followed by a hands-on learning portion. Through this program, every kindergartner was also provided a properly fitted bicycle helmet.
