JDC Brings Online Safety Tips to H-J
Posted on 02/13/2019
On Friday, February 8th, Mr. Adam Testa and Mrs. Jennifer Bond, from Summit County Juvenile Court, came to Harris-Jackson to speak with parents/guardians, grandparents, and other concerned family members tasked with keeping our kids safe online. Our students have increased access to technology. This is great for educational purposes and for the goal of helping our students interact with the world in which they live. It is just as important for adults and children alike to be aware of the dangers that can also lurk on the other side of the screen.

Mr. Testa and Mrs. Bond shared important information about cyberbullying, possible legal consequences of misuse of technology, dangers of sexting, the need for responsible posting, helpful and dangerous apps, and provided additional resources that help can help adults keep kids safe online!

Some helpful websites that were shared included:
www.connectsafely.org
www.netsmartz.org
www.missingkids.org/Home
www.internetsafety101.org/
http://www.ohioicac.org/

Additional Apps that can help with "monitoring" online activity:
-Content Watch - Net Nanny 7
-PhoneSheriff
-Mobile Spy
-Qustodio
-Symantic Norton Family Premier
-Circle with Disney
