On Tuesday, February 12th, the school community at Harris-Jackson welcomed Flight Squad! Our Harris-Jackson PTA found this hidden treasure and brought this group of inspirational, skilled and entertaining basketball players to our school.
Flight Squad coming to our school was an amazing experience for all of our kids and the grown-ups alike. The players shared stories and messages about being positive, having confidence, never giving up, having mental toughness, and spoke against all types of bullying. This lined right up with our building focus. We want our kids to be prepared for college, careers, the world of work, and successful living! We also want every person in our school community to not only feel respected by others, but to also show respect for others. The message that Flight Squad brought to us was exactly what we needed. Oh yeah, and it totally exciting, entertaining, interactive and funny! Flight Squad presented at two different assemblies, throughout which, we saw the kids’ faces light up with excitement. We heard their screams and cheering at times, and then at other times we saw deep thinking. Not only did Flight Squad share their stories, but they shared their basketball skills and tricks, allowed students to participate on the gym floor, shared many laughs, and even got the grown-ups in on the act by letting them show off some pretty “sweet” dance moves!
