Many Thanks to NHS DECA

On Tuesday, December 16th, Harris-Jackson welcomed a special, yet familiar partner and friend. Mr. Mathews, from North High School's DECA Program, along with some of his students, came bearing gifts. These were gifts specifically picked out for ten Harris-Jackson students. This act of kindness shown by Mr. Mathews and his DECA students is greatly appreciated. It comes at a time when, even though we're in the midst of the holiday season, many families are struggling. Speaking with the parents and guardians of the students selected to receive gifts, there was so much gratitude for this opportunity their students were being given. The students were equally thankful, stunned, and excited when they walked into the cafeteria and realized that the gifts were for them. One student was so moved, he asked if he could hug each of the North High students. Another student shared that his "okay day" became "fantastic" after being presented with the gifts. Another student, as we carried her gifts out at dismissal, said that she knew her grandfather was going to be excited when he saw her, because he was going to think the school cared about her and treated her in a special way.

This was such a wonderful blessing for the families of these ten students. The holiday season is a bit brighter because of Mr. Mathews and the NHS DECA Program!
