HJ Ambassadors Shine

Ambassadors with district leaders

Our school community is so proud of five of our student ambassadors who represented Harris-Jackson during a recent Steering Committee held at our Akron Public Schools administration building. The steering committee is a team of community partners, families, educators and district leaders who support the College and Career Academies of Akron (CCAA).

The Harris-Jackson ambassadors who attended were: Elina Khesang (5th grade), Nicholas Tran (5th grade), Pranisha Chhetri (4th grade), Dereck Escoto Zamora (4th grade), and Dakota Perrine (4th grade). The student leaders were able to share their thoughts about CCAA implementation at the elementary level. They shared with the Steering Committee about the benefits of essential experiences, specifically, their visit to the Akron Art Museum (fourth grade experience). They also had an opportunity to share about their recent involvement during the Akron in Action event when Harris-Jackson was a site visit for educators and administrators from different districts around the country. They highlighted the schoolwide programming in place that focus on the Portrait of an Elementary Scholar, student leadership development, career awareness/exploration, community engagement, and more. Afterwards, the ambassadors, Mrs. Piskur, and Ms. Heath were able to pose for a picture with two of our elementary leaders for the district (Ms. Outley and Mr. Dawson).

Way to go ambassadors!
