Thank you to our Second Quarter Partners

Posted on 01/31/2020

We’ve made it through the first half of the 2019-20 school year! We took time to acknowledge our 1st Quarter donors and partners back in the fall, so we want to recognize special individuals, groups and agencies who supported the work that we do every day at Harris-Jackson!

THANK YOU to all of our 2nd Quarter partners, donors and friends:

  • Mrs. LeAnn Lane and Little Punkin’s Patch Family Child Care stepped up again this year and provided hats and gloves to be used by students in need
  • The Olive Garden Italian Restaurant on Howe Avenue donated coupons for free kid’s meals. These were gifted to select students who are members of our 95% Attendance Club.
  • Mrs. Missy Morlock donated coats, boots and shoes for students in need.
  • Mrs. Pam Costa, Mrs. Deborah Morgan and Mr. John Morgan (Friends of Harris-Jackson) donated money for our Student Activities fund, along with coats, boots, shoes, school uniforms and other children’s clothing.
  • Mrs. Meri Hillenbrand,Phyllis Parks, Pam Costa, Pat Stuhldreher and Judi and Pete Rusk (Friends of Harris-Jackson) wanted to make the holiday season special for some of our families again this year. They donated food items/holiday food boxes for 9 Harris-Jackson families.
  • Mrs. Linda Anderson is another former “Harris-Jackson” parent who took the time to provide children’s clothing for students in need.
  • The Apostolic Christian Church Sunday School in Norton donated coats, gloves and socks for students in need.
  • The United Way of Summit County stopped by before Winter Break to bring a snack pack filled with tasty treats for each Harris-Jackson student.
  • Christine Rose and the Choose Ohio First Program at The University of Akron provided winter hats and gloves for students in need.
  • The LeBron James Family Foundation provided holiday toys for all of our students in kindergarten, first and second grade.
  • The Arby’s Foundation provided a monetary grant that our school is able to use for building wide participation in the Great Kindness Challenge during the month of February, and for the enhancement of our Multicultural Fair later this spring.
  • Huntington Bank donated time by providing guest readers for many of our classes. They were enthusiastic and passed along their love for reading to our students.
  • Christ Child Society has continued providing free uniforms and other items for students whose families were experiencing financial hardship or some other type of emergency situation.
  • Lt. Sierjie Lash and our friends from The Optimist Club celebrated all of our students who had perfect attendance for the first semester of school! They hosted and invited these deserving students to a pizza party. They also received a special certificate.

There are times when simply saying “Thank you” is not enough. Whether you’re a partner, donor or friend to Harris-Jackson for the first time, or you provide for us all year long (and anywhere in between) we are truly grateful for all you do and all you give to support our students, their families and our staff!

Please remember to check our school website as we like to post information and updates about what’s happening at our school. If there are additional ways that you’d like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to call Andrea Aller (Building Principal) or reach out to our School Counselor (Lisa Heath - lheath@apslearns.org).
